According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 150 million people in the world are experiencing some form of hearing loss. This number is expected to increase to 250 crore by 2050. Hence it is being seen as a health problem.
Only 37% of people in France use hearing aids
In France, only 37% of people use hearing aids. Smokers and people with high BMIs are also using hearing aids less. In view of the growing problem, last year, the French Department of Health made hearing aids available to the public for free. Provision has also been made for insurance for hearing aid.
