Pervez Musharraf’s condition critical:Former PAK President caught with amyloidosis disease; Know what it is, how dangerous it is

Former Pakistan President and army dictator General Pervez Musharraf has been hospitalized for the last three weeks. Giving information on Twitter, his family said that he is suffering from a disease called amyloidosis, due to which all his organs have stopped working. There is no scope for recovery now.

Let us know what is amyloidosis disease, what are its symptoms and how it affects the human body…

What is amyloidosis?
According to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), amyloidosis is a group of rare and serious diseases. In this, an abnormal protein called amyloid begins to form in the human body. It starts accumulating in organs like heart, kidney, liver, nervous system, brain etc., due to which the tissues of these organs are not able to work properly.

The accumulation of amyloid is so dangerous that due to not getting treatment at the right time, a person is also at risk of organ failure. Musharraf was diagnosed with this disease in 2018, after which he is undergoing treatment.

What causes amyloidosis?
There can be many reasons for getting amyloidosis. The disease is genetic in most patients. Its symptoms can also come due to mutations in people’s genes. Sometimes long-term dialysis can also cause amyloidosis. Apart from this, it can also be a secondary disease of a primary disease.

What is the treatment for amyloidosis ?

The symptoms of amyloidosis are so common that it is very difficult to diagnose this disease. To find out, doctors examine the tissue sample of the affected part of the patient. Along with this, blood tests, urine tests and genetic tests are also done.

The treatment of amyloidosis depends on the organ affected, the symptoms and the type of disease. For this, the doctor can also choose options like chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also approved certain medications for amyloidosis.
