The economic crisis that has been going on for months in Sri Lanka has deepened considerably. Meanwhile, protestors, troubled by inflation, surrounded the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The private house of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was set on fire. Rajapaksa fled the President’s House. No one knows where they are. He will tender his resignation on 13 July.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe resigned from the post when the pressure increased after the people’s occupation of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The protesters descended into the halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan, into the rooms and even into the swimming pool. He was seen working out in the gym there. Apart from this, he was also seen playing cards in the Prime Minister’s residence.
